In Loving Memory of Michael Hart

Michael Hart

Michael Louis Hart, age 43, of Chicago, passed peacefully on Thursday, May 25th, 2023. A successful stock and options trader and finance educator, Michael carried a vibrant spirit, profound love, and ceaseless curiosity throughout his life. His keen intellect and radiant smile were his signatures, instantly disarming and inviting, symbolizing his exceptional ability to connect with people.

Born to parents John (Jack) and Wardia (Dea) Hart of Olean, New York, Michael beautifully carried the legacy of his beloved family in all aspects of his life. He is survived by his wife, Anne Ongkiko Hart, their son, Louis Matthew Hart, his brothers John E. Hart and Louis J. Hart of Chicago, and his Aunt Michiko McElfresh of Olean. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Col. John M. Hart and Diana N. Hart of Olean and Louis and Nellie Simon of Olean, New York.

Michael's professional life revolved around his role as a stock and options trader. He used his knowledge to educate others, teaching hundreds of thousands how to trade options and futures online. His commitment to raising the level of dialogue on trading derivatives and his love for engaging with the public reflected his lifelong dedication to giving back and fostering financial literacy.

Despite his bustling professional life, Michael found tranquility in the presence of animals, particularly his rescue dog Lola, who brought a sense of calm and companionship to his life. Michael's collecting hobby was a testament to his appreciation for history and craftsmanship. He sought a connection to the past to understand and contextualize the future. He even used his professional skills to find opportunities in the collectibles markets, turning these financial opportunities into educational moments.

Outside his professional life, Michael was an enthusiastic participant in life's adventures. He sought solace and reflection in camping and walking the woods and hills of Cattaraugus County and beyond. He cherished fishing, skiing, and boating for the quiet communion with nature and the companionship they brought.

Inspired by his favorite quote from Shackleton's expedition to Antarctica - "Men wanted for hazardous journey to the South Pole. Small wages, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger. Safe return doubtful. Honor and recognition in case of success." Michael approached life with a sense of daring and determination, ready to face the unknown. This philosophy was particularly evident in his professional life and his interest in antique collection.

To his beloved son, Louis Matthew Hart, he was not just a father, but a comforting voice who would often serenade him with 'Always Remember Us This Way' by Lady Gaga's a melody that now echoes with cherished memories.Michael's life remains an inspiration for all who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence is missed, and his life was shared with many.

The memorial service was held at Michael's Alma mater, in the St. Bonaventure University Chapel, in Olean, NY, on Saturday, June 24th, 2023, at 11:00 AM.
